Dear Pakistani Visitors Now Pakistan Blog Awards 2011 in your Country. So if you are Pakistani and a blogger too, and believe in awards – here’s a chance for you to get things goings. After successfully executing Pakistan’s first blog awards, PC World (with it’s local representatives) has managed to get Nokia, djuice, Telenor, Intel and Dell as partners to organize Pakistan’s second blog awards.
What blogs are eligible?
Blogs that take part in this must have been updated at least once in the last 30 days. They can hold text, photos (photoblog), audio (podcast) or videos (videoblog or vlog).
The geographical proximity of the blogger does not matter. The blog, however, must be linked to Pakistan in some way – either through the topic, language or audience. So, Pakistanis managing their blogs from outside of Pakistan are also welcome to submit entries.
The blogs submitted in any category may be in either Urdu or English.
Organizers, partners, sponsors, their employees along with their family members are NOT eligible to participate in the Pakistan Blog Awards.
Submitted blogs and posts should contain the necessary authorization to use the images, audio, text and other content.
What you need to do to nominate a blog?
Every submission must have a screen shot submitted. Please limit the size of the screen shot to 200kb.
If you have a self-hosted blog, your email address must be a domain-specific email address. Such submissions submitted by web-mail addresses will be disqualified. (ie: user@domain.com) – Please note that we will send a verification email prior to publishing your entry into the competition.
If you have a blog running on a blogging platform, only the email address that is ON THE SITE may make a submission. We will send a verification email prior to publishing your entry into the competition.
Your “mug” refers to either a photograph of yourself and please try and make this something other than a passport photograph. For those of you who are shy, your Avatar will also be accepted.
Offensive images submitted with entry will be disqualified and while we can’t really stop this from recurring, we’d appreciate if you’d exercise a little empathy.
Please be sure you fit the category you are submitting your blog in.
Each blog submission may only be submitted into ONE category – Should the same blog site be submitted for more than one category, all entries will be disqualified. However, more than one BLOGGER may make distinct and unique submissions in as many distinct and unique categories as he likes.
How can you try and win this?
Online voting is not the only factor, winners of the Pakistan Blog Awards are decided by online voting and a jury of experts. This is especially critical because of the chance for manipulation of online voting.
You should promote your submitted entry like crazy and get friends, family, distant cousins, the funny uncle who chats and the acquaintance you only call when there’s work to be done, to come and vote for your entry. Please note that only votes accumulated on this website will count towards the winner. Please also download badges from our Promotion page in the Media Centre section to help you promote your blog.
Popularity through voting and comments left on the blog entry accounts for 50% of the winning criteria. A jury panel (which will remain undisclosed till the adjudicating process closes) will be requested to assess the entries on content, aesthetics and technical grounds amongst others. Their evaluations will contribute 50% of the overall decision.
Like you, we are only human and the criteria and rules will be a bit flexible. We request that you be as open to change as we are.
Anyone, anywhere on the planet can come in and vote for your blog.
Keeping with the norms, one IP will only be allowed to vote once for the blog.
How can people vote for you?
There is a randomizer script running on the home page, so each time you refresh the page, viewers will see a new set of blog entries. These are, as the script suggests, random.
Views (we will keep the views open throughout till the 5th of December 2011) may still be taken into account even after the judges are done with the adjudication, so you are welcome to keep reaching out to your audiences and asking them to view your entry.
If you like a submitted site you can do any of the following:
Cast your vote for it – The little golden stars are the voting mechanism. Simply rate the number of stars. Please note that you can only vote once per blog – when your IP gets logged in the system, you will not be able to vote for THAT blog again. You are, however, welcome to vote for as many entries as you like.
Leave a comment – If you are part of the blog’s audience, let us know what you think of it by leaving a comment.
If you click on the blog’s link from their submitted entry, you will notice a Blog Awards rating bar pop up and follow you to THAT website. Feel free to rate the blog entry into our system even when you are not on the pakistanblogawards.com website.
Rules are pretty much the same as they were last time, but just in case if you don’t know then you can nominate your blog to win award in one of following categories.
You will have to vigorously ask your FnF to vote and comment on your nomination. These votes and comments from your FnF on your page are likely to carry 50 percent weight with rest of 50 percent weightage in the hands of judges. (I hope I understood the terms well, they are mentioned here for a detailed look)
